Lively Debate on 'International Education: Boom to Bust and Back again'

ACPET members were well represented at a recent TVET Policy in the Pub with a lively discussion on "International Education: Boom to bust and Back Again".

Chris Evanson - Managing Director, International Education Services Ltd (IES) & Member of the ACPET Board’s International Education Committee, gave a considered and informative overview of the International Education market, current challenges, possible remedies and future prospects. Intaj Khan, CEO, Western Institute of Technology, ACPET member also spoke about his experiences with international education, recent conversations and findings while overseas, identification of opportunities which differed from the standard and successful partnerships and positioning with industry. John Ross, Senior VET Journalist, Campus Review and 2010 Higher Education Journalist of the Year provided an overview and comparison with competitor countries. Neil Edwards, CEO, TVET, facilitated the evening and fostered a reflective discussion.

The same topic will be discussed in Sydney on Monday 28 March 2011, at Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel, 4.30-6.00 pm. Speakers include Claire Field – CEO, Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET), David Riordan - Director, TAFE NSW Sydney Institute, and John Ross - Senior VET Journalist, Campus Review. Another interesting and informative discussion is anticipated.
